jean up!
What really looks ravishing on the plus sized figure are shapely jeans, especially to the many men who appreciate them. When they are accented with colorful, tunic-type tops that have flowing sleeves, attention is drawn away from fuller thighs and hips. This outfit looks especially spicy with higher heels and/or pointy toes. Or wear boots over your jeans to minimize fuller calves. Enjoy that look, girl!

work it girl
The truth of the matter is that there is nothing more attractive than a woman who works out. Size doesn’t matter. Generally, a plus size woman who works out regularly is significantly more attractive than a woman of the same size who does not exercise at all. A study at Wake Forest University found that women who work out regularly are perceived as more attractive, even if they are overweight. Researchers found that women who are seen as exercisers are put in the same attractive category, whether they are thin or plus-size. Their conclusions suggest that women shouldn’t focus on getting the weight off in order to improve how others see them. They should just work on becoming a regular exerciser and the benefits will come with the enhanced lifestyle. The obvious added benefit to this is improved muscle strength, stronger bones, better respiratory functions and good cardio. It also pays off in a confidence that can make all the difference in one’s social life.

The simplest way to enhance the appearance of your wardrobe is to accessorize. Adding the right necklace, bracelet, or brooch with a simple dress or top can result in a dynamic slimming effect. A pants suit can be dressed up by tying on a colorful scarf. It can make the difference between ordinary and distinctively unique. You can step out with the best of them by using the right accessories to accent your wardrobe.

growing up
Many young men growing up dreamed of an incredibly built woman who would corner them to make a spectacular seduction that included all the bells and whistles of their fantasies. As they grew older, the woman didn’t have to be incredibly built. And by then the seduction didn’t really have to be spectacular. And the bells and whistles didn’t really have to be that loud. It’s called Maturity. Guys figured that a woman who would act like that right off the bat would do that with anyone. They began thinking about a woman as someone who would exclusively share their lives, instead of just performing a service. That led to a conclusion that was as unlikely in youth as it makes sense to a man. There is nothing more sexy than a woman who knows how to carry herself.

go figure
We were crusing and happened upon a nightclub that caters to big women. Not knowing what to expect, we said “what the hey?” As it turned out, there was a serious party going on. Although some of the women looked, uh, prohibitively big, most were vibrant, sexy, and seemed ready to have some fun. And they did. We may have been a little biased because we are a bunch that takes a bit of ribbing from our friends for loving “thick” women. We just can’t understand the allure of mutant popsicle stick women like…………well, you know who I mean. They look like witches or bag ladies and we are supposed to think they are fine, just because somebody puts them on TV. Well, the old saying definitely applies here, paraphrased by Rosie O’Donnell (of all people)…….”Bone is for dog, meat is for MAN.”

Fitness tips
Exercise and fitness is a state of mind. For example, when I was a kid, I would walk several blocks to school every day. I had siblings and friends that did the same thing. During the summers, we would run around the playground from dawn to dusk. That output of energy wasn’t even considered a workout. We just did it. A bit of that attitude could be useful for us now, at a time in our lives when we actually NEED to exercise to enhance our quality of life.
As we got older, we got jobs and responsibilities. Instead of doing the pillar to post running of teenagers, we went to meetings and sat at desks. Exercise became something we had to plan for. People joined gyms to do that, along with having to arrange to have their gym shorts ready and to decide whether to do it before work, after the PTA meeting, or at the end of a busy day. Every aspect had to fall into place in order for the workout to actually happen.
In order to fit exercise in our daily schedules, we have to do away with the rituals. Park far enough away from your destination for a walk that will wake you up and do some good. Clench and unclench your stomach muscles while sitting at your desk. Remove the formality of having to have your gym clothes at the ready in order for you to work out. Get runs in those stockings or invest in having to take those clothes to the cleaners after one wear. When you get an hour, work out! Walk to the supermarket instead of driving and carry the groceries back. Fall on the floor and do ten pushups as soon as you walk in your front door. Race your child, even if it might be a little embarrassing at first.
Use your imagination and think out of the box. As these impromptu and minute workouts increase in frequency, so will your overall fitness.

Depression
“The researchers found that compared with placebo, these new-generation antidepressant medications did not yield clinically significant improvements in depression in patients who initially had moderate or even very severe depression. The study found that significant benefits occurred only in the most severely depressed patients.” This excerpt from a recent AP article made me think about all of the devices used to alleviate depression. They all share the common characteristic of addressing a symptom instead of a cause. If I were to take a drug to feel better, the drug will eventually wear off. Or the supply will go away. Or my condition will change so the medication won’t work anymore. This is the reason why people shouldn’t be medicated for most emotional issues. The environment that caused stress that the drugs masked can change in a heartbeat and then require a whole new set of coping mechanisms. Sometimes the reaction can be violent, which is a whole new topic. Suffice it to say that the way we look and the way we feel basically has to be dealt with and the better we learn to feel about ourselves, the better the quality of life overall. Our self image has to be cultivated to bring us true happiness. Whether you are heavy, not attractive by society’s usually false norms, or simply feeling inadequate in yourself, the inner search for self-acceptance is the true panacea to distress.
